Advisor

Mr. Thomassen holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science, with a Minor in Geography, from York College of Pennsylvania. He is an Illinois State Certified Social Studies teacher and holds a TESOL certificate from Trinity College London. With extensive experience teaching in international and bilingual schools across Taiwan, he specializes in history, political science, and geography. Mr. Thomassen serves as the Model United Nations Advisor to the Model United Nations Club for VIS and brings significant experience from his time participating in Model United Nations, Model European Union, and Model Arab League conferences. He focuses on developing students’ research, diplomacy, negotiation, and public speaking skills, helping them build both procedural expertise and a sophisticated understanding of international relations.
